About

I work from my studio on the Fylde coast in Lancashire, surrounded by shifting light and my thriving wildlife garden. My expressive abstract paintings explore the inner weather of life, the emotional landscapes we all carry, built through an intuitive practice of layering and reworking across several pieces at once. Mood and music feed the process, but it's the interplay of colour, texture and energetic mark-making that leads, as each piece evolves into a vibrant dance of colour.

Alongside the larger paintings I make what I call paper meditations, impulsive, unplanned mixed media compositions on loose rag paper and in sketchbooks. These spontaneous works often feed the bigger pieces, reminding me to stay present, be brave and embrace playfulness whatever the scale.

While I love play and exploration, I consider each painting carefully, always reflecting as i go. It’s a balance between instinct and control, as too much fine-tuning can stifle the enrgy in the work.

Rooted in a love of life and the natural world, my paintings carry a sense of renewal, of place, and a quiet homage to loved ones past and present.
